I literally cannot wait to open on 12th April to welcome you to my new studio for cake smashing photoshoots.
Cake Smashing is still very very popular for the 1st birthday and does make for some wonderful and fun keepsake photos.
I call my photoshoots, my 3 in 1 Happimess photoshoots to include the Cake Smash. My sessions start with wooden letters spelling ‘One’ (you choose which letters on the day), followed by the Cake Smash and then a wash off in my posing roll top bath with bubbles. 3 shoots as one which last around an hour to an hour and a half.
This is the very cute Aleah. We started Aleah’s off with some pics of her using our small pinky girly ‘one’ letters and our floral ‘1’. We then gave Aleah her cake and she was quite delicate in her cake smashing technique! Followed by her tub wash off which again was very ‘lady-like’. A charming little character and we got some super cute pics.
Following her photo shoot, a Gallery of approx 60 images was uploaded to our Customer Only GALLERY website where her parents were able to view her images and choose their faves from here – they chose Package A – An 18×12″ collage in print (approx size of A3 paper), plus 2 x 8×10″ prints (almost A4 size) and 4 x digital images.

Baby Girl Newborn Photoshoot
Baby Girl Newborn Photo Shoot
I am very much looking forward to opening my studio doors again to welcome you and your newborn baby to my new studio.
This is little Matilda, at 10 days young …her mum and dad chose a mixture of natural images with a few of my newborn art ideas – see below for some of their chosen pics.
If you are thinking of booking a newborn photo shoot, my very favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 5 and 12 days as this is the best time to capture the gorgeous, curled up shots before they start becoming more alert and not sleeping so well after feeds… my Newborn Photoshoots are for babies up to 4 weeks young but with lockdown restrictions I have been photographing newborns up to 13 weeks old with great success.
My studio photo sessions are very relaxed in a lovely warm and friendly environment, so that you not only get the images you will love forever, but you’ll enjoy the experience too.
On arrival, we can discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I offer the natural shots on blankets with minimal props … through to the more creative Newborn Art images. If you have not yet had your baby … I recommend booking your newborn photo session based on your due date. This can be changed if necessary once your little bundle of joy arrives.
All 3 of my Newborn Sale Packages can include sibling and family shots if you wish and very often I encourage the a famiy shot or 2 even if you’re not planning on it as it’s a moment in time that you’ll want to treasure.
Package prices (as shown on our website) can include as many props as you like and all editing/retouching required. We discuss in full your requirements at the start of your session. There are no hidden costs, there is nothing more to pay if you book one of our packages, unless of course you would like additional images – you can request to see my price list for additional images prior to booking. Celebrate the 1st Birthday with one of my 3 in 1 Happimess photoshoots to include the Cake Smash. Evie Grace was smiling from arrival in the studio and what a llittle fun character she is – she absolutely loved it – gorgeous little girl and kept us all laughing throughout her shoot.
Once she’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put her into our posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on her as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and let her enjoy her little self. Splashing and pouting for fun.
Following her cake smash photo shoot, a Gallery of approx 60 images was uploaded to our Customer Only GALLERY website where her parents were able to view her images and choose their faves from here – they chose Package B – A large 18×18″ collage, the 20×8″ ONE pic, plus a selection of 8x10s and digital images.

Shy Violet Photography’s NEW Studio
Shy Violet Photography has moved into a brand new studio
The Shy Violet Photography Studio has been at Woodend Mills in Springhead for over 12 years but now we’ve moved to a brand new studio – but we’ve only moved about 500 yards up the road!
The address of my NEW studio is: Shy Violet Photography, 1st Floor, 49-51 Co-Operative Street, Springhead, Oldham, OL4 5TB. I am above a shop called Garforth Glass. You will see a sign for both of us on the main road. For those of your who are local to the area, you may have heard of Garforth Glass as it’s been there for many many years.
I now have a lovely large space – pics below – and have kept the warm friendly feel that I had at Woodend Mills. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and at ease as soon as you arrive and this I think I have achieved … but come see for yourself. Not quite finished … but almost there – pics below.

I call our Cake Smash sessions our 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ photoshoot as we do 3 shoots as one to celebrate the 1st Birthday.
We started Ella’s off with some pics of her with her big brother Issac, who’s Cake Smash Photoshoot I’d done 3 years ealier – pics below.
We then photographed Ella with my flowery ‘1’ and our wooden letters spelling ‘One’ – pics below – brilliant pic of Ella holding up one finger on each hand – she definitely knew she was One! And then we brought on the cake … and Ella absolutely loved it – she has the most hilarious pout and I took plenty of pics of this together with lots of smiling and laughing… pics below. She kept up all laughing throughout!
Once she’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put her into our posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on her as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and let her enjoy her little self. Splashing and pouting for fun … again pics below.

Ralphie’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoot
This is the supercute Ralphie celebrating his 1st Birthday with us in the studio with our 3-in-1 Happimess session which included the cake smash.
I call our Cake Smash sessions our 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ session as we do 3 shoots as one to celebrate the 1st Birthday. Ralphie started off with a few pics with his big sister Xyla, now 3 who’s cake smash I did 2 years ago.
He then beautifully performed the I am One shoot using our wooden letters spelling ‘One’, and then we brought on the cake …Ralphie was very cute and was concentrating alot on the cake, so much so that it was hard to get him to look up at us … but he did and was smiling and giggling alot too. And we sat him on his cake as our new standard cakes are the perfect height for a baby stool 🙂 🙂 See pics below.
Once he’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put him into our posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on him as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and wow did he enjoy himself … totally flooding the studio from splashing so much water out of the tub – hilariously good fun!

My newborn sessions are for babies up to 4 weeks young and my very favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 5-6 and 12 days as this is the best time to capture the gorgeous, curled up shots before they start becoming more alert and not sleeping so well after feeds.
This is little Sebastian who came to my studio for his photoshoot at just 8 days young.
I like to ensure that my newborn photo sessions are very relaxed and I therefore allow up to 3 hours to capture the various newborn poses … I keep the studio warm and cosy and allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and soothing between these poses.

And then we brought on the cake … and oh my goodness, Isabelle absolutely loved it – smiling and laughing throughout … and she really got stuck in it and smashed it to pieces … and we all had a good laugh watching her too!

This is Mister Cute Samson celebrating his 1st Birthday with us in the studio with our 3-in-1 Happimess session which included the cake smash.
I call our Cake Smash sessions our 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ session as we do 3 shoots as one to celebrate the 1st Birthday. Samson started off with our little cream wooden letters spelling ‘One’, and then we brought on the cake … Samson was so funny and his lion cupcake was smashed and crushed very very quickly – he the ears off as soon as he sat down with it. We all had a really good chuckle as he reallly went for it until there was nothing left but goo!
Once he’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put him into our posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on him as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and let him enjoy himself – which he did – big big smiles and giggles in the tub. Samson made us all laugh a lot throughout his photo shoot.
