Newborn Baby Photography
My favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 6 and 12 days and I class my newborn sessions as up to 4 weeks young. This is the best time to capture the super cute, curled up shots before they start becoming more alert and not sleeping so well after feeds.
I like to ensure that all newborn photo sessions are very relaxed and I therefore allow up to 3 hours to capture the various newborn poses … I keep the studio warm and cosy and allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and soothing between these poses.
On arrival, we can discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I offer the natural shots on blankets with minimal props … through to the more creative Newborn Art images. If you have not yet had your baby … I recommend booking your newborn photo session based on your due date. This can be changed if necessary once your little bundle of joy arrives.
I do have a very comfortable newborn studio, however, if you would like me to bring my studio set up to you, I can and just need your postcode to give you a cost for travel and set up.
ALL sessions can include sibling and family shots if you wish and package prices (as shown on our website) include as many props as you like and all editing/retouching required. We discuss in full your requirements at the start of your session. There are no hidden costs, there is nothing more to pay if you book one of our packages, unless of course you would like additional images – you can request to see my price list for additional images prior to booking. I also offer albums, photo books, canvases, blocks, folios – if you would like more info on any of these, please get in touch.

Calaya’s Cake Smash Photo Shoot
This is Calaya, celebrating her 1st Birthday with us with our 3-in-1 Happimess session to include the Cake Smash.
I call our Cake Smash sessions our 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ session as we do 3 shoots as one to celebrate the 1st Birthday. So Calaya started off with our giant wooden letters spelling ‘One’. After which, her mum changed her into another outfit and the cake smash began … Calaya was quite hesitant and altho smiling and giggling, hardly smashed the cake and just ate little bits – we all laughed a lot tho.
Once she’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put her into our posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on her as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and let her enjoy her little self. She really loved it – she kept doing really coy little smiles too – very very sweet little girl.
I just love our cake smash sessions – they are genuinely such great fun for your baby and for you as the parents … and for me too!
Following Calya’s photo session with Shy Violet Photography, a Gallery of approx 60 images was uploaded to our Customer Only GALLERY website where her parents were able to view her images and choose their faves from here – they chose a 25 digital image package for £229.00.

I absolutely love Newborn Baby Art … I know it’s not for everyone and it’s why I create the Natural Newborn images too during your Newborn Photoshoot, but I do love to specialise in the very creative Baby Art. Oscar came to the studio for his newborn photo session at just 8 days young … and his older sister came along too to join in. Pics below …

I call my Cake Smash sessions, my 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ session: The fun starts with the I am ONE shoot, with giant O, N and E (or smaller cream letters), followed by the Cake Smash (Personalised 8” Cake included in all package options), finishing with our Rub-a-Dub was off in our posing roll top baby bath with bubbles. All 3 as one session – which usually lasts around an hour and a half.

Our new 8″ taller Polka dot cake is our new look cake for the cake smash for 2020. You can choose from a variety of colours and you can choose 3 colours for the polka dot icing discs too. We can then colour coordinate balloons, pompoms and bunting. I just LOVE this cake and it’s actually the perfect height for sitting babies on – haha haha haha … like a baby stool 🙂
Meet Shivaay – who had a wonderful time at his cake smash – he was all smiles from start to finish! And when he’d smashed it and eaten enough …We then put him into our posing roll top baby bath, put the bubbles on and let him splash and play in the tub.

This lockdown has not been a good time for so many … and our children have missed grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Celebrate and capture reuniting with family members with a family portrait photography shoot. You can invite grandparents – other family members – friends …. make it a Photography Party!
At Shy Violet Photography, we now have 2 wonderful studios … Studio A for Newborn, Babies and Cake Smash which is smaller and cosy, and a large studio, Studio B for family portrait photo sessions and can cater for small families of 3 or 4 – up to 20.
As a general rule we offer the family portrait photo sessions on a white backdrop, but we can offer lots of other ideas too – please feel free to discuss any specific requirements you might have with us.
We are happy to offer a Combination Photo Shoot, where we can incorporate family shots on the white… and a second option for your little ones – just some of my ideas include a Bubbles Shoot, Vintage Shoot, Fun Shoot on a Colour of your choice using balloons, pompoms, bunting.
If the weather is good, we can always go into the woods in the studio grounds to get some lovely outdoor shots.
