My very favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 6 and 12 days as this is a wonderul time to capture the gorgeous, sleepy urled up shots that we all love …. before they start becoming more alert and not sleeping so well after feeds… my Newborn Photoshoots are for babies up to 4 weeks young but if your baby is slightly older and still sleeping well after feeds, please feel free to call me to discuss.
My newborn photo sessions are very relaxed in a lovely warm and friendly environment, so that you not only get the images you will love forever, but you’ll enjoy the experience too.
On arrival, we can discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I offer the natural shots on blankets with minimal props … through to the more creative Newborn Art images. You might want to include a little Christmas pic or 2 to celebrate this time of year.
If you have not yet had your baby … I recommend booking your newborn baby photo session based on your due date. This can be changed if necessary once your little bundle of joy arrives. I take a deposit on booking, but you do not lose this if we have to rearrange the date.
My Newborn Sale Packages are published on the webisite – please click here to view. All can include sibling and family shots if you wish and very often I encourage the a famiy shot or 2 even if you’re not planning on it as it’s a moment in time that you’ll want to treasure.
And all packages can include as many props as you’d like too with no extra charge.
There is no additonal charge for editing/retouching that is required. We discuss in full your requirements at the start of your session. There are no hidden costs, there is nothing more to pay if you book one of our packages, unless of course you would like additional images – you can request to see my price list for additional images prior to booking.
Following your Newborn baby photo session with Shy Violet Photography, a Gallery of images will be online for 3 weeks on our Customer Only GALLERY website where you will be able to view your images in the privacy of your own home, and as many times as you like.

If you are thinking about booking a Baby PhotoShoot, the 5-6 months age is a wonderful time to capture their personality, smiles and giggles.
And now is a great time to get your little one photographed in time to make some wonderful Christmas Gifts 🙂
At 5-6 months your baby is learning to sit up and although perhaps not able to sit up unaided, we have baby chairs that can help with this, and PhotoShop which can edit out parents’ arms making sure they don’t fall. And at this age, personality is really taking shape and it’s an age I just love to photograph.
My studio baby photo sessions are very relaxed in a lovely warm, bright and airy environment, specially designed so that it looks like a soft play area for your baby – soft toys and props are on show in the studio so you have lots of choice for your photoshoot.
For the Baby PhotoShoot I provide chairs, suitcases, pails and other props such as ‘rocking horse’, hats, balloons …. lots and lots of choice for you … many of which can be seen in the gallery of images on the Baby Photo Shoot Page – click here to view.
You can include a few Chistmas themed pics if you like too – we have some gorgeous little wooden trees which make a very simple Chritmas backdrop.

As a ‘pawrent’ myself, I am mad about my 2 little fur babies (Martha and Murphy) who are often at the shoots with me in the studio 🙂
I absolutely love the doggy and puppy cake smash. Unliike the baby cake smash, the fur baby ones can be done at any age and for any reason – just to treat your doggy to the best ever fun! They are genuinely such great fun for all of us.
Many puppies come for the dog smash for their 1st Birthday … But some doggies come because they are being treated after an illness or accident and it’s a great treat for rescue doggies too as a celebration of their rescue. The Dog Smash can be done for any reason at all!! 🙂

Ava’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash PhotoShoot
I call our Cake Smash PhotoShoot our 3-in-1 ‘Happimess’ photoshoot as I do 3 shoots as one to celebrate the 1st Birthday.
We can start everything off with a mini family portrait shoot – just 2-3 pics on a mini backdrop (either taupe or grey) … just ask on booking.
If no family pics required, we start off with our wooden letters spelling ‘One’. I have some large wooden letters which can be turned to virtually any colour in the post edit – you’ll see lots of different variations in my cake smash gallery – click here to view. I also have a large floral ‘1’ for the girls, and smaller wooden letters if preferred. We discuss which you’d like to use at the start of every session and I have sample images in the studio for you to view too.
And then I bring on the cake … each package INCLUDES one of our standard cakes as shown in the pics below in a choice of colours (your choice) – but you can order other cakes too for a little extra – all shown on the website together with package costs – click here to view. Ava had quite a dainty cake smash as not a big mess fan but still gave us plenty of laughs and she loved her tub and bubbles.
Once your little one has had enough of cake smashing, we then put them into my posing roll top baby bath, leaving as much cake on them as poss to start with … put the bubbles on and let them enjoy themselves. Thomas thoroughy enjoyed this bit too and we go some great pics here too.
These photo shoots are fab! Sooooo much fun for your baby and for you as the parents … and for me too!

Pregnancy / Baby Bump Photo Shoot
PREGNANCY / BABY BUMP PHOTOSHOOT
“Offering beautiful Natural and Creative Maternity/Pregnancy/Bump photography capturing this wonderful time in your life”
The best time frame for a Pregnancy/Maternity photo session is around 28 to 36 weeks of the pregnancy, expecting mothers can enjoy a photo shoot as long as they’re not a little too close to their delivery dates and they can still move around with a growing baby bump.
Our Pregnancy/Maternity shoots can be all about you as the one with the ’bump’ and / or family members can join in for a few shots too. We have props and gowns which we offer at no extra charge, and you are welcome to bring your own clothes and props too. We love the images which include the scan pic so always a good idea to bring one or 2 of these with you.
We offer the very natural maternity photography, just you and bump OR we can offer a more creative side with butterflies, billowing material and chiffon – examples of which are shown in our image gallery.
We have created a very informal, warm and relaxed studio, where you will immediately feel at ease, and developed a ‘friendly’ photo session that will almost distract you from the camera and flash lights.
You can book one of our package as detailed below or you can let us know what you’d like and we can price this for you. You can order additional images once you’ve seen all your images if you wish and you can request to see the prices for these prior to booking.
We offer albums, photo books, canvases, blocks, folios – if you would like more info on any of these, please get in touch.
